In The Details

Last evening, my husband and I got out the telescope and looked at the moon. It was a perfect night for it; it was full and bright and could be clearly seen. As we looked through the telescope we could see the cracks and the crevices, the craters and all the details of the moon. He and I both felt a sense of awe at the hand of God and at His power. As we looked at it, studied it and talked about it, I was overwhelmed with the attention to detail that God put into His moon. God is a God of details. Just look at His creation and you will see the details He has placed into everything He has created. There is not one leaf that is the same, not one snowflake falls that is like the other. Even the stars and the moon and the sun are created with such attention to detail it is too much for us to understand. If God puts that much detail into His creation, think about how much detail He has put into your life. God is a God of details.
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that you are mindful of Him,” Psalm 8:3
David spent a lot of time sleeping outside. He had years of looking up at the stars and the moon and the universe floating above him. I can picture him lying on his back, hands behind his head, staring up at the moon and just being in total awe over God’s creation. I felt the same way last night as I looked at the moon in its magnified state. God has put so much attention and detail into what He has created, why then do I think He has not done the same with my life?
There is no detail left unattended to when it comes to God. There is nothing that has not had His hand upon it, there is nothing that He has not ordained, and set His seal upon. Jesus tells us that even the very hairs on our heads are numbered. (Matthew 10:30) God knows how many hairs are on your head. So why do we worry and stress about the details, when God has already figured them out? There is so much we can learn from creation, if we would just take some time, like David did, and sit and look upon it all.
While we were looking at the moon, and we looked at all the craters and crevices that we could see, I was reminded of all the good and the bad that happens in this world, and in my own life. Even these instances are all a part of God’s perfect plan. God’s love and care for us is so perfectly shown to us through His creation. There is nothing in your life now that God has not already seen, planned and prepared you for. He has made sure that every detail has been taken care of. Look at the moon, and the sun and the stars. Is there disorder or is there order to it all? There is order because God has ironed out all the wrinkles, and has left nothing to chance.

Our lives can seem so insignificant in the scheme of creation. But God created all of creation to show us the wonder of His love for us. In the depths of the ocean, in the vastness of the night sky, His love is being declared to us. We are so much more to Him than His creation. He would move the heavens and the earth out of the way to get to you, if that is what it took. His love is declared to us, His detailed thoughts toward us are more numerous than the stars themselves. His thoughts and His attention over our lives outshine the sun itself.
We allow so much to cloud our vision of Him. We allow worry and fear, doubt and unbelief to question His love for us. No matter where we are, no matter what is happening in our lives, the attention and detail God has put into your life is more than you can ever comprehend. God is not surprised or taken aback by anything that happens to us, because He has already seen the details and He has already taken care of them all.
All this has reminded me that I have nothing to fear, I have nothing to worry about, I have nothing to doubt, because God is a God of details. He has taken such great care for my life that no matter what happens; I can trust that He is in complete and utter control. The moon does not move one inch off its axis, from the beginning of time to the end of time, and if it did, then the earth would be destroyed, yet God keeps it where it is, with His very hands He has complete and utter control over it. God has set the sun, the moon, the stars, the earth and all His creation in a pattern, in a place all for itself and not once has He failed to care for His creation. Why then do we question His care for us? In the scheme of creation we seem so insignificant, but to our God, our Father, we are so much more than creation itself. If God can place that much detail into all He has created, how much more has He put into your life?
There is nothing that is beyond His control, nothing that is beyond His reach. For even the oceans obey His commands, and He has made sure that all things work for His glory. Your life, my life, is but a dot in an everlasting line of His glory, but our little dots are of more importance to Him than anyone and anything else He has ever created. His love for you is so deep, so wide, so high that our human minds cannot wrap around it. When fear and doubt, worry and stress begin to creep into our lives, all we have to do is lay back and look up. For in His creation, in the works of His hands we can see His care and devotion to us. There is nothing that God has not seen, planned, and worked out for our good. Even the moon, the stars, the sun, and creation itself was created for us to enjoy, for us to glorify God, and to remind us how detailed His thoughts are toward us. God is a God of details, even the details of your daily life; to Him they are the most important of all.

I pray that we all would take some time today to praise Him and the work of His hands. That we would thank Him for the attention to detail He has so carefully put into our lives. There is nothing He has not worked out, there is no stone left unturned, and no wrinkle yet to be straightened, for our God is a God of details, and in the midst of all the details of our lives, He is there. Amen and Amen.
